Item Inventory Development of Usability Technology Features of Electronic Portfolio Systems
In
recent years, Electronic Portfolio (E-Portfolio) Systems have been implemented
in higher education to allow a more flexible approach to learning, teaching and
assessment. In the University of Auckland, Faculty of Education e-portfolio
systems were adopted to attest to the Graduating Teacher Standards (GTS) and to
show transparency of student teacher’s learning journey. However, research into
their usability and efficacy has lagged behind. This study addresses this gap
by presenting results of students’ retrospective evaluation and develops best
practice approaches toward use based on students’ recommendations. A case study
was conducted at the University of Auckland, Faculty of Education and in a
graduate diploma in teaching course in which students were required to create a
teaching e-portfolio (either Mahara or Google Sites).
